About Us

E komo mai (Welcome)! We are USF’s Hui O Hawai’i, a student organization dedicated to sharing the cultural significance of the Hawaiian islands and Polynesia since 1974.

Annual Hōʻike lūʻau

This year we are celebrating Hui’s first ever Hōʻike and 51st annual lūʻau! Deciding to change our beloved yearly event to ‘Hōʻike’ is a reflection of our organization’s commitment to increasing our cultural literacy and continuous incorporation of ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language).

Hōʻike: To report. (wehewehe.org) ‘Ike means knowledge in the Hawaiian language. It’s our pleasure to share the teachings of hula kahiko (traditional style), hula ‘auana (contemporary style), ʻōteʻa (Tahitian drum dance), aparima (Tahitian hand dance), and mele (song). In USF tradition, come with your appetite to enjoy lūʻau Hawaiian food and live music!
